Dave Marks, originally from Belfast, Ireland, is one of the most in demand London bass players. Although self-taught for many years, he graduated from The Guitar Institute in 2001 with a Dip He and BMus in Popular Music Performance and from the London College of Music & Media in 2005 with a distinction in his Music Performance Masters Degree.
With more than 10 years of professional Live, Studio, TV and Musical Theatre experience, Dave has played in almost every genre of Popular music, performing with numerous Rock, Pop, Funk, Folk and Jazz acts.
Dave toured internationally for a number of years with Progressive Rock drum legend Carl Palmer. He has performed live with Gary Brooker (Procol Harum); UK singer-songwriter legend Boo Hewerdine (The Bible, Eddi Reader); bass legend Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani); London Contemporary Choir ‘The Heard’; Mercury-nominated Hip-Hop artist Ty; Canadian Country star Jayalyne Tradler and in the past has played with Richard Smith (Prof. of Guitar, USC); Leo Green (Jools Holland Big Band); Paul Carrack (Squeeze, Mike & the Mechanics);
He has done studio work for a wide range of producers, including Jon Kelly (Kate Bush, Paul Mc Cartney), Ash Alexander (Queen, Henry Mancini), Yak Bondi (Emma B, Billie, Lisa Stansfield) and Jo Webb (Halo Records). His album credits include artists as diverse as Chris Difford (Squeeze) Aled Jones, Rosalie Deighton, Jo Webb and Progressive Death band Linear Sphere.
Dave writes his own ‘Style Files’ column in every issue of Bass Guitar Magazine, as well as occasional interviews and articles for Acoustic magazine. Dave also teaches at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, Thames Valley University and the University of Chichester.
He is an endorsee of EBS amps and pedals, Line 6 pedals, Sei Basses and La Bella Strings.
Motti “The Motster” Cohen is equally as comfortable behind a drum kit, a mixing board, as musical director for big name touring acts, and as arranger/producer for stars in genres as disparate as Chassidic Jewish, Hip Hop, Pop, and Jazz. At the ripe young age of 28 he is one of the most in demand producers in London as well as a top call drumming superstar, maintaining a regular gigging and touring schedule with name artists in all of the above mentioned styles.
A true Renaissance man in the music business, Motti dips in and out of any number of styles with uncanny authenticity. Whether he’s in Ghana with Highlife-Reggae legend Kojo Antwe, playing at the world famous Glastenbury Festival with UK pop sensation Hadar, Brazillian samba with Israeli legend Mati Caspi,a or a high energy Jazz set with British Jazz superstar Alan Barnes, he always manages to bring his vast influences to the table while staying true to the essence of each style and artist. Motti has written and produced for such UK pop acts as platinum selling boy-band Blue, and done remix work with Sister Sledge. His hectic gigging schedule has taken him to Switzerland, Belgium, Israel, Japan, and Africa, as well as regularly traversing the UK continent. |
